FIA awards: JPSI is year's best promoters

Sameer Gaur wins Promotional Promoter Trophy at 2011 FIA Gala
At the 2011 Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Prize Giving Gala held for the first time in India, Formula One group CEO Mr Bernie Ecclestone presented Mr Sameer Gaur, Managing Director and CEO of Jaypee Sports International Limited (JPSI) with the best promotional trophy for a promoter recognizing JPSI's contribution in making India one of the finest motorsport destinations in the region through Buddh International Circuit.

In a star-studded evening of celebration at the appropriately-named Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon on Friday, Formula 1 awarded trophies to winners and champions in a varied number of categories.

Buddh International Circuit (BIC), which on October 30, 2011 hosted the inaugural Indian Grand Prix, had been lately awarded the 'Motorsport Facility of the Year' award at the Professional Motorsport World Expo 2011 Awards, held in Cologne, Germany. More recently, it has been awarded 'Best Motorsport Facility' by CNBC Overdrive. Also, Mr Sameer Gaur was named TopGear 'Man of the Year' by BBC and 'Man of the Year' by Man's World Magazine for his efforts to make the first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix in India such a success.

On being bestowed with this prestigious trophy Sameer Gaur, Managing Director and CEO of Jaypee Sports International said "This is indeed a very proud moment and I am honoured to receive this FIA award on behalf of my entire team and everyone whose support was indispensible in ensuring the resounding success of the first ever Indian Grand Prix.
